Olen kituutellut melkein neljä vuotta yksillä pehmeillä baletin harjoitustossuilla. Uuden kauden kunniaksi päätin hommata uudet. SoDancan tossuissa ei sinänsä mitään isoa vikaa ole, mutta kiristettävä kuminauha (tai lähinnä sen solmu) hiertää jalkapöytää ikävästi. Olin aikonut tilata Blochin Pro Elastic-tossut joissa kiristyskuminauha on korvattu leveällä kiinteällä kuminauhalla. Sitten menin piruuttani Piruettiin katsomaan valikoimaa. Siellä sattuikin olemaan töissä tuttu kasvo balettitunneilta. Niinpä sitten päädyinkin ostamaan Helinän suosituksesta Merletin Stellat. Ne istuvat paremmin kuin SoDancat, eikä ole kiristysnauhan solmua hiertämässä. Kuminauhatkin oli valmiiksi ommeltu joten sitäkään vaivaa ei tarvinnut nähdä. Koko tosin on kaksi numeroa suurempi kuin SoDancan tossuissa. Ainoa mikä pehmeissä tossuissa itseäni vähän ärsyttää on hirveän paksut kohdat päkiän ja kantapään alla. Etenkin päkiällä seistessä tossu tuntuu epämukavan muhkuraiselta pohjasta. Tosin tossun rakenteen vuoksi päkiän alla on aina paksumpi kohta, kangas on siinä laskostettu antamaan tossulle oikean muodon, valmistajasta riippumatta.

Kärkitossuissakin on ilmennyt vähän ongelmaa. Läpinäkyvät kuminauhat tuntuvat löystyvän hirmuisen nopeasti käytössä, josta syystä kantapää tahtoo luiskahtaa tossuista ulos. Olen kiristänyt kummankin tossun kuminauhoja jo kertaalleen ja toisen tossun kuminauha tuntuu edelleen tarvitsevan kiristystä. Vaikka tossut ovat jo pehmenneet ihan mukavasti niin demipointe tuottaa edelleen hankaluuksia kun tuntuu että kotelon etureuna estää nousemasta päkiälle. Varpailla seisten tuntuu että paino pääsee putoamaan kokonaan isovarpaalle. Tämä on ilmennyt ihan viimeaikoina ja pistää isovarpaan aikamoiselle rasitukselle. Olen pistänyt silikonipehmusteen sisään lisää fyllinkiä (lampaanvillaa) pikkuvarpeiden kohdalle mutta se ei ole aivan kokonaan poistanut ongelmaa. Mietin että voiko kotelo olla antamassa periksi leveyssuunnassa? Aiemmin paino jakautui tasaisemmin jalkaterälle. Voi olla että joudun hommaamaan vuoden vaihteessa uusia tossuja jos en keksi tähän mitään ratkaisua.

I have managed almost four years with one pair of soft baller slippers. I decided to launch the new season with new slippers. There isn’t really that much wrong with SoDanca slippers, but the drawstring elastic (the knot to be precise) rubs my feet quite annoyingly. I was going to order Bloch Pro Elastic slippers with wide solid elastic. Then I popped in local ballet shop, Piruetti, to check what they have to offer. Familiar face from my ballet class happened to work there. So I ended up buying Merlet Stella slippers, on Helinä’s recommendation. They fit better than SoDanca slippers and there is no draw string to rub my feet. Even the elastics were already sewn on. Size is two sizes larger than SoDanca, but that doesn’t really matter. Only thing I don’t like on soft slippers is the uneven and lumpy sole. Especially when standing on releve the sole feels very uncomfortably uneven. There is always thicker area under the ball of the foot, due to the construction of the slipper, but it still nags me.

There’s also been some problems with pointe shoes. Invisible elastics seem to get loose very easily, which causes the heel to come out of the shoe. I have already resewn them once, but the right shoe seems to need another sewing already. Even though pointe shoes are quite soft already, demipointe still gives me grief. It feels like the edge of the box is preventing me to go demipointe. Even though I have tried to soften the edge. When on pointe, I feel the weight is now completely on my big toes. This issue occurred recently and it really gives rough time for the big toe. I have added more filling (lambs wool) over the smaller toes inside my silicone padding, but that hasn’t completely removed the pain. I was wondering, is it possible that the box is going to give in the width support? Earlier the weight was distributed more evenly on the whole ball of the foot. I might have to buy new pointe shoes at the end of the year if I can’t find solution.
